Busy Summer

Hot, humid, and dry. Soaker hoses save the harvest. With heat indexes above 100 for weeks the weather took it's toll on this gardener and the plants. It is almost over but not before a few tropical storms blow through. Hurricane Dorrian missed us but our proximity to the coast ensures we get winds which blew over both field pea supports. (I will have to anchor them better.) The okra which had peaked was just hammered. This is now our climate has changed our gardening: I expect extreme heat and dry periods. I expect hurricanes and tropical storm winds to begin in September. Anyone in the coastal plain of North Carolina who does not, is delusional.
